Alpha Terminal

Your Personal Wall Street Research Desk

The Problem

Wall Street has always had an unfair advantage.

Institutional investors spend millions on Bloomberg terminals, proprietary trading algorithms, and teams of quantitative analysts. The average person? They get a brokerage app with a price chart and a "buy" button.

The gap between professional-grade market intelligence and what's available to everyday investors is massive. Retail tools are either too basic, too expensive (Bloomberg at $25,000/year), or too fragmented — forcing users to bounce between five different apps just to make an informed decision.

What if you could have a Bloomberg-caliber research terminal running on your own hardware, powered by free data, with no subscription fees — ever?

What Alpha Terminal Is

Alpha Terminal is a unified financial research platform that brings institutional-quality market analysis, portfolio management, economic tracking, and quantitative strategy testing into a single dashboard — accessible from any browser.

It's not a brokerage. It doesn't execute trades. What it does is give you the same depth of information and analytical power that hedge funds use to decide what to trade — without the six-figure price tag.

Think of it as the control room where you do your homework before putting money to work.

How It Works

Alpha Terminal runs as a private web application. You log in from your phone, tablet, or computer, and you're immediately inside a 7-tab research environment that covers every angle of the market.

All data comes from free, public sources — Yahoo Finance for stock data, the Federal Reserve for economic indicators, and Polymarket for prediction markets. No paid subscriptions. No API fees. No vendor lock-in.

Everything updates in real time.

The Seven Tabs

1. Markets — Stock Research & Comparison

Type any stock symbol and instantly see its current price, daily movement, 52-week range, market cap, P/E ratio, and analyst recommendations. Toggle between time periods (1 month to 5 years) on interactive charts, and overlay technical indicators like RSI, MACD, and Bollinger Bands to gauge momentum and volatility.

Want to compare Apple, Microsoft, and Google side by side? Enter the symbols, and a comparison table instantly breaks down 9 key metrics across all three.

Dig deeper with expandable panels showing profit margins, return on equity, revenue figures, analyst price targets, and a full earnings history showing whether the company beats or misses expectations each quarter.

In plain English: Everything you need to research a stock before buying it — all in one place.

2. Polymarket — Prediction Markets

Polymarket lets people bet real money on future events — elections, Fed rate decisions, tech launches, geopolitical outcomes. Alpha Terminal surfaces the top prediction markets ranked by trading volume, showing you what the crowd thinks is most likely to happen next.

Search for any topic and see the probability percentages, trading volume, and how those odds have shifted in the last 24 hours.

Why it matters: Prediction markets are often more accurate than polls or expert forecasts. They're a leading indicator of market-moving events.

3. Portfolio — Your Holdings, Live

Log in with a passkey (fingerprint or face scan) or password, and you'll see your entire investment portfolio with real-time pricing. Stocks, ETFs, crypto, mutual funds — all in one view.

For each holding, you see: what you paid, what it's worth now, your profit or loss (in dollars and percentage), and how much of your total portfolio each position represents. Holdings are grouped by asset type with expandable sections.

Set price alerts (notify me when Tesla drops below $200), import your holdings from a spreadsheet, or export them for your records. Quick links at the bottom take you straight to your broker when you're ready to act.

The bottom line: A live scoreboard for your money.

4. Macro — The Economic Big Picture

The stock market doesn't exist in a vacuum. Interest rates, inflation, unemployment, and consumer confidence all move markets. Alpha Terminal tracks 10 key economic indicators from the Federal Reserve, updated automatically.

The centerpiece is the yield curve — a visual chart showing what different Treasury bonds are paying. When short-term rates exceed long-term rates (an "inversion"), it's historically been one of the most reliable recession predictors. Alpha Terminal detects inversions automatically and flags them.

Four historical trend charts let you zoom into the Fed Funds Rate, unemployment, inflation (CPI), and consumer sentiment over any period from 6 months to 5 years.

Translation: This tab tells you what the economy is actually doing, not what the headlines say.

5. Screener — Find Trading Opportunities

The Screener ranks over 50 stocks by a composite momentum score (0 to 100) based on five factors: relative strength, moving average positioning, trend direction, volume spikes, and recent returns.

Stocks at the top of the list are showing the strongest technical momentum. Stocks at the bottom may be oversold — potential opportunities for contrarian investors.

Below the main board, you'll find upcoming earnings announcements (know what's reporting this week) and a feed of insider transactions — when CEOs and directors are buying or selling their own company's stock.

Why this matters: Insider buying is one of the strongest bullish signals in the market. If the CEO is spending their own money, they know something.

6. Trade — Tariff & Sector Sensitivity

In today's geopolitical climate, tariffs and trade policy can move entire sectors overnight. This tab maps all 11 major market sectors against their sensitivity to trade disruption.

Each sector gets a sensitivity score (0–100) based on import/export exposure. Materials (85) and Technology (78) sit at the top. Utilities (18) and Financials (25) are the most insulated.

Expand any sector to see exactly why it's sensitive — which sub-industries are affected, what specific tariff policies apply, historical trade data from the Federal Reserve, and how your own portfolio is exposed to that sector.

The takeaway: Know where your money is vulnerable before the next trade war headline.

7. Insights — The Morning Briefing

Insights is the "open this first" tab. It gives you a complete market snapshot in 30 seconds:

In a sentence: Your daily market briefing, personalized to your portfolio.

The Backtesting Engine

Behind the dashboard lives a quantitative strategy engine. This is where Alpha Terminal goes from "research tool" to "quant lab."

What Is Backtesting?

Backtesting answers a simple question: "If I had followed this strategy for the last 5 years, would I have made money?"

You define a set of rules — for example, "Buy when a stock's RSI drops below 10 and its price falls below the lower Bollinger Band, then sell when it recovers to the middle band." Alpha Terminal runs that strategy against years of historical data and tells you exactly what would have happened.

What You Get Back

Monte Carlo Simulation

Here's what separates Alpha Terminal from basic backtesting tools. After running a backtest, the platform shuffles the order of trades 1,000+ times to generate alternate timelines. This answers: "Was this strategy genuinely good, or did I just get lucky with the sequence of events?"

If the strategy performs well across 95% of the simulated timelines, you can have confidence it's robust. If it only works in one specific order, it's likely a fluke.

No reputable quant fund would deploy a strategy without Monte Carlo validation. Now you can do the same.

Who Is This For?

The Vision

Wall Street's information advantage is shrinking. The data that moves markets — economic indicators, earnings reports, insider transactions, prediction markets — is increasingly public. What's been missing is the interface that makes it actionable.

Alpha Terminal is that interface.

It's not trying to replace your broker or tell you what to buy. It's trying to give you the same quality of information and analysis that a professional portfolio manager has on their desk — so that when you do make a decision, it's an informed one.

The future of investing isn't about who has the most data. It's about who can make sense of it the fastest.
